A few people already know who Wale (pronounced Wah-Lay) is. Dude is a local rapper who's trying to put D.C. on the map when it comes to mainstream rap music. A lot of the beats he rhymes over have a distinct Go Go flavor to them and his flow is better than any other rapper I've heard come out of DC. Anyway, he released a free mixtape on the internet last year. While it has its moments where it falls flat, those moments few and far in between. He's recently been featured on The Roots new single "Rising Up" with Chrisette Michele and I'm hoping it gets the guy more buzz. Everything I've heard from him so far has been pretty good and he definitely deserves the attention.

Check him out at MySpace and at Elitaste.
